Rita’s Kitchen, a volunteer-led community café in Moneygall, took a big step towards sustainability by installing a 10.5kW solar PV system with support from the SEAI grant. The system now helps power the café using clean, renewable energy—cutting down electricity bills and giving long-term energy stability to a space that means so much to the local community.

The café, which was set up as a response to the isolation many felt after Covid, has grown into a vital gathering place. It’s where people of all ages come to connect—locals, cyclists, GAA members, and families alike. With this solar project, the team behind Rita’s Kitchen is not only keeping the doors open with lower costs—they’re also showing how small rural spaces can lead by example in embracing green energy. We’re proud to support them in that mission.
